Virginia Frances Baine

BAINE, Virginia Frances passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, June 20, 2014. Born January 13, 1926, in Chillicothe, Ohio, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold William Baine, as well as her father William Barker, mother Dorothy “Dora” (McMillen) Byers, stepfather Lawrence Byers, elder sister Evelyn Ansell, and nephew Ronald Ramsey. She is survived by daughter Linda (Paul) Rueger, son Larry (Mary) Baine, grandchildren Paul (Kelly) Rueger, Benjamin and Nicholas (Elaine) Baine, great-grandchildren Paul Magnus and Lydia Dagmar Rueger, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Dorothy “Dottie” (Harry) Fite. A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Virginia provided daycare for many, including her own grandchildren, and opened her home to numerous foster children as well; she was involved in their school programs and parties. She is also remembered as caregiver for her own grandmother during a long illness and for saving the life of a friend who had lapsed into a diabetic coma. Virginia’s legacy, in addition to warm memories of the care received by family and friends, reflects her interest in needle art; her hand-embroidered dresser scarves, crocheted pieces, and hooked rugs were treasured. A born nurturer, she was often found working in her garden and occasionally on vacation in the Smoky Mountains. Virginia especially enjoyed talking about her family and her friends at church. She, together with her husband, was a long-time member of the Springfield East High Street Church of Christ. Their minister, Philip Grear, will officiate at her funeral and graveside services. Family and friends will gather for visitation at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio; the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Interment is scheduled close to noon at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle.
