PURKEY (WILLIAMS), Shirley A. Age 70, born January 12, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of Carroll and Florence Williams, died December 17, 2013. Graduated from Oakwood High School (1961) and Wittenberg Univ. (B.S. Education, 1965) and Univ. of Dayton (M.S. Education, 1999). Shirley taught Special Education for 32 years: Town & Country Day School (Springfield), Centerville, Fairborn, Developmental Center for Handicapped Children (Kettering), and Kettering City Schools, retiring in 2009. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom of Kettering Ohio, her daughter, Cindi (Hans) Peterson, son Jeff (Erin), and seven grandchildren, Todd, Chad, and Cade Peterson; Gus, Cole, Eva Purkey and Mitch Allison; sister, Kay (John) Smith; and life-long friend Carolyn Bonen (Tom) Tudor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners’ Hospitals for Crippled Children, United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton (4710 Old Troy Pike, Dayton, OH 45424), or Hospice of Dayton. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 1-3 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 am at Epiphany Lutheran Church (6430 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45459). Burial will follow at Heritage Hills Memory Gardens.
