Oscar T. Vale Jr.

Born in Weslaco, Texas on January 21, 1930 passed away in San Antonio, TX. on February 27, 2014 at the age of 84 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Colon Cancer; he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Preceded by his parents: Oscar Sr. and Zoila Vale, his Brothers Sam Sr. and Bill and Sisters Dalia and Suzie.
Survived by: his Wife Mary Ann (Reyes) Vale, his Sister Norma, 4 Sons & Spouses: Julius & Ruth, Oscar III & Elaine, Caesar & Patricia & Mark. ( 8 Grand Children) Justin, Julius Vale II, Diana Vale Cassandra Vale, Monica Vale, Tony Vale and Sariana Vale & (7 Great Grand Children) Riley Ele. Caleb Elg, Grace Cox, Trinity Vale Ethan Vale and Spencer Vale

Received his Bachelors Degree from St. Mary’s University and later his Masters Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.

Served in the US Army and Active Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel.
Worked as a Teacher at Edgewood High School, then The Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base as a Linguistics Instructor, where he retired. From there he Partnered with his Son Mark, and started a Welding Shop till 2005 when he suffered from Alzheimer’s.

Oscar attended St. Brigid’s Catholic Church in San Antonio and was a dutiful member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.
He is remembered for his love of children, stray animals and woodworking skills. Oscar built several pieces of furniture that will be passed from generation to generation.

A Memorial service was held at St. Brigid’s Church on March 3rd and a Private Burial Services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemitary on the 24th of March 2014 at 2:30 PM
