DOWNING, Marilouise Diehl 1915-2012, 96, of Venice, FL, formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away July 25, 2012 with her family by her side. Born in Detroit, she moved with her family to Dayton in early childhood. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1933. She was a long time member of Shiloh Church in Dayton, a member of Chapter CV, P.E.O. Sisterhood and a life-long advocate of women’s rights, supporting NOW and Planned Parenthood. She was honored by being selected as one of the Top Ten Women in Dayton in 1966. She moved to Venice in 1976 and was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Lida Diehl, sisters Dorothy Oliver and Margaret Murr and brother Leslie Diehl Jr. Marilouise is survived by her loving husband of 74 years Richard C; daughter Carol D. Green (Ben) of Sun City Center, FL; son Bruce of Sarasota; grandchildren Scott and Douglas Shellabarger (Lisa) and Suzanne Harrell (Ted); great grandchildren Sarah and Hannah Shellabarger; sister Alice Wilson of Clearwater, brother Clark E. Diehl of Centerville, MA, and many nieces and nephews. Her life will be celebrated August 4th at 1:00 p.m. in the Renaissance Room at Village On The Isle, 900 South TamiamiTrail, Venice. Inurnment will take place in Venice Memorial Gardens.
