SIEBENTHALER, John R. “Jack” Oct. 11, 1924 – Aug. 29, 2012 87, of Clearwater, FL, and Dayton, OH, died peacefully at home and donated his body for scientific study. A graduate of Fairview H.S. (1942) and Cornell Univ. (BS), Siebenthaler worked in the family’s nursery business, The Siebenthaler Company, until he left in 1960 for Florida. He retired in 2003 as one of America’s top horticultural consultants, specializing in arboriculture. During the Korean War, Siebenthaler led his Marine infantry platoon to the Chosin Reservoir and earned a Purple Heart, retiring as Lt. Col., USMC Reserves. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Kurtz Siebenthaler. He is survived by his children and their partners: John K. Siebenthaler (Sue) of Seminole, FL; Becky Siebenthaler (Reed Myles) of Clearwater, FL; Cathy Heaton (Keith) of Paso Robles, CA; and Sally Simonelli (Dominick) and Jenny Siebenthaler (Ralph Lawless) of Templeton, CA. He is also survived by grandsons John Siebenthaler and Christopher Siebenthaler of Austin, TX and Jesse Williams of Capitola, CA.
