Our Beloved Donna Lynn Winkle, age 48, was called to be with the Lord on February 15, 2012 in Novato California, where after 19 years she valiantly succumbed to a rare form of cancer. Although she may have lost the physical battle, the victory belongs to the Lord!
Donna was born on February 3, 1964 at Marin General Hospital, to Harold Lee & Marilyn Ann Burr. Donna attended Novato High School and graduated from College of Marin with a bachelor’s degree in 2001. On August 9, 1981, Donna married Ronnie Eugene Winkle.
Donna lived in Novato where she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Donna was a member of Valley Baptist Church, where she gracefully served the Lord as the Director of the Children’s AWANA ministry for 9 years.
Donna will be especially remembered for her great love of her husband, daughter, her grandchildren and for her passion for Christ shown through her love of children in the AWANA program. Donna was also very fond of her “fur kids”, her dogs; Heidi and Katie, whom she was training very hard to earn their agility master degrees. Fond memories include many camping trips with Ron, Debra, Jeremy, Michael & Danielle and often with Marilyn here mother and Ron’s brothers and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years; Ronnie Eugene Winkle, her mother Marilyn Anne Burr-Myers, brothers Richard Allen Burr, Robert Lee Burr and sister Halee Jardine, her one daughter; Debra Lynn Taylor & son in law Jeremy Taylor, and two grandchildren; Michael and Danielle Taylor. Donna was preceded in death by her father Harold Lee Burr.
All relatives and friends are welcome to attend a visitation starting at 11:30am followed by a memorial service which will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Valley Baptist Church located at 3 N. San Pedro Road in San Rafael. Donna will be laid to rest at the Mount Tamalpias Cemetery at 2500 Fifth Ave, San Rafael. The burial service is open to family only.
