BEGLEY, Bernard M. “Bernie” 82, passed away Sunday November 16 at his residence in Xenia, Born September 25, 1932, in Clark County, Kentucky, the son of Hubert and Florence Begley. Bernie is survived by three loving siblings: Betty Fair, Dayton; Donald Begley (friend, Mary Kay Zappia) Dayton; and Hubert Begley, Dunn, N.C., and also a 30-year dear, dear friend, Don Arnett. He was predeceased by his mother, father, and a younger brother, Robert F. Begley. He was a 4-year US Army Sgt., and veteran of the Korean War and for over 30 years served as head of the Internal Revenue Service (Ohio), regional office in Dayton. After retirement from the IRS, Bernie became a breeder of exotic animals, an accomplished ornithologist, raised and raced many thoroughbred Kentucky horses, and for the past many years has been involved in high-end antiques and fine art. Bernie also spoke four languages fluently and was a world traveler. Visitation will be held from 9am to 11am Monday, November 24, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Prayers will follow visitation at the funeral home until 11:45am. Funeral services will follow at 1pm, at the Dayton National Cemetery with honors. In lieu of flowers you may contribute to Stivers School of Art, Dayton, in Bernie’s memory. The Xenia, Yellow Springs, and Dayton communities will miss his generosity and social personality. His commitment to the arts was recognized by his personal involvement and financial support. He attended St. Mary’s and Emmanuel Catholic Churches, Dayton.
