“Ben” Masaru
Yamasaki passed away at the age of 93 on March 28th, 2013 in Houston TX. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lily Yamasaki, and his grandson, Chris Yamasaki. Masaru was preceded in death by his son, Lance Yamasaki.
Born in California, Masaru was relocated to Dayton, Ohio after interning at Tule Lake Camp during WWII. There he would spend the next 37 years working for Borden Inc, retiring in 1983. While in Dayton, Masaru founded a local chapter and acted as District Governor of the Japanese American Citizens League. He also set up the sister city of Oiso, Japan and received the Key to the City.
A service will be held for Masaru, as well as his son, Lance Yamasaki, at Forest Park Westheimer from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, April 13.
